Ruby and John had two children, Kenneth Lowell in 1928 and Jeanene Lois on Nov. 1, 1930. The couple then divorced a few years later because of John's problem with alcohol.

Ruby loved to garden, sew, crochet and knit, cook and clean. She liked to teach her grandchildren to sing songs from her youth and kept whatever she could find and pass on about her family history. She was most appreciated for her homemade noodles. Providing for two children during the depression was not an easy job, but she was a master of thrift and passed this on to her heirs.
