Although many of her poems were centered on nature most seemed to be about the practicalities of life and what she considered common sense living–topics about working and such things as breastfeeding being the natural way of life. My favorite is reproduced here:
I wake up in the morning
And jump out of bed.
All the animals on the farm
Need to be fed.
The cows want their water;
The calf wants its feed,
But I just can't get started
'Til after I've peed.
