It seems that when Lura left for Vermilion County in 1830 she may have taken Deziah with her leaving a 10-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter with their father. Her son, Daniel, attended Miami Medical College in Ohio and served as a surgeon in the 140th Ohio Infantry.
After moving to Vermilion County, Illinois Lura continued practicing the healing arts she had learned from Daniel and became quite a legend in the county for delivering babies.
Lura died August 3, 1884.
